iRacing Season 3 2026: Complete Guide to Every New Car, Track & Update

iRacing's 2026 Season 3 is live, and for road racers it's one of the strongest builds in recent memory. A free GT car, a ground-up Laguna Seca rescan, a brand-new street circuit to learn before the real pros do, and UI improvements that have been on the wishlist for years. Here's everything road racers need to know.

TLDR

  • Free car: BMW M2 Racing (G87), included with all memberships, no purchase needed.
  • Best new track: WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, fully rebuilt from a new laser scan
  • Headline track: Qualcomm Circuit (Naval Base Coronado), a real street circuit dropping in iRacing before its NASCAR debut
  • GTP upgrade: BMW M Hybrid V8 Evo, automatic free update if you already own the previous version
  • UI wins: Native fuel calculator, incident tracker, and control profiles are finally here
  • Useful upgrades: Oschersleben and Magny-Cours get new 3D kerbs; Porsche 911 Cup (992.2) gets a visual refresh

New Cars in iRacing Season 3

BMW M2 Racing (G87)

The most accessible addition this season is the BMW M2 Racing (G87), which comes free for every iRacing member. No credits, no purchase. It's the updated iteration of the M2 in iRacing, based on the current-generation G87 platform, and it's a proper racing machine rather than a casual toy. Smooth inputs are rewarded, mistakes punished, and it gives road racers a genuinely fun GT car to race without any barrier to entry.

If you've been on the Mazda MX-5 and want a meaningful step up, this is a good place to start. Getting the most from it is mostly a setup and technique question, and our iRacing setup guide covers exactly where to look for time.

BMW M2 Car

EuroNASCAR V8GP

Don't let the NASCAR badge put you off. The EuroNASCAR V8GP is a road course car through and through, representing the real-world NASCAR Euro Series which races at circuits like Brands Hatch and Zandvoort. Raw V8 power, heavy braking demands, and racecraft that's completely unlike a GT3. A genuinely interesting addition to the road racing roster if you want something different.

BMW M Hybrid V8 Evo

BMW's GTP contender gets its 2026 update with the BMW M Hybrid V8 Evo. If you already own the previous version, the upgrade lands in your garage automatically at no charge. You don't need to do anything. If you're new to GTP class, this is one of the best cars on the platform for endurance-style road racing.

It's worth reading up on how to prepare for iRacing special events before diving in, since GTP features heavily in the special events calendar.

Formula Vee: Cutlass & Conqueror Bodies

Two new body options for the Formula Vee, the Cutlass and the Conqueror, sold as a pair. Performance is identical to the free Classic model, so this is purely a visual refresh. If you've been racing the same Vee shell for years and want a change without switching class, it's a clean and affordable option. The Vee itself remains one of the best cars in iRacing for building open-wheel fundamentals.

New Tracks in iRacing Season 3

WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca

This is the one road racers have been waiting for. The old Laguna Seca is gone, replaced entirely by a ground-up reconstruction built off an all-new laser scan. Every surface detail, every kerb height, every camber change through the Corkscrew has been recaptured from the real circuit. If you've driven it before, you'll feel the difference immediately. If you're coming in fresh, you're getting one of the finest track recreations on the platform.

trophi.ai tip: The Corkscrew entry and the Andretti Hairpin (T2) are where most drivers leave the most time at Laguna Seca. Before your first session on the new scan, check out our guide on how to use iRacing telemetry to find faster lap times,  it'll help you pinpoint your weak spots faster.

Qualcomm Circuit (Naval Base Coronado)

iRacing and NASCAR collaborated on a point-cloud scan of the all-new Qualcomm Circuit at Naval Base Coronado, and it's landing in iRacing weeks before the real-world NASCAR debut later this month. You get to learn every apex and braking zone before the Cup Series drivers do.

Street circuits have their own character: narrow, wall-lined, no run-off and very little room for error. They reward precision and punish impatience. Getting your FOV dialled in correctly matters more here than on a traditional road course since depth perception and wall proximity feel completely different when there's concrete on both sides.

UI Upgrades Worth Knowing About

Season 3 brings several quality-of-life improvements that road racers will use every session:

  • Control Profiles: Swap between car-specific FFB and button map profiles in seconds
  • Fuel Calculator: Native in-sim stint planning; no more spreadsheets or third-party apps
  • Incident Tracker: Watch your x-count in real time during races
  • New Track Maps: Four more circuits added to the in-sim map system

The fuel calculator alone has been on the community wishlist for years. It's a genuine improvement to how endurance and multi-stint races are managed.

There's also a new track map UI element that makes situational awareness during races cleaner and easier to read.

Upgrades to Existing Road Racing Content

A few existing cars and tracks also got meaningful updates:

  • Porsche 911 Cup (992.2): Visual refresh to the current-spec car
  • Dallara IR18: Visual update
  • Oschersleben & Magny-Cours: New 3D kerbs on both circuits; big improvement to feel and visuals
  • Oran Park: Art update
  • Radical SR8 & Pontiac Solstice: Now AI-enabled for offline practice sessions

FAQ

Is the BMW M2 Racing (G87) really free?

Yes. It's included with all iRacing memberships from the Season 3 build onwards, no purchase required. It appears in your garage automatically.

Do I need to buy the BMW M Hybrid V8 Evo if I already own the old version?

No. The update is applied automatically at no cost. If you owned the previous BMW M Hybrid V8 it'll already be in your garage.

Is the new Laguna Seca scan different enough to relearn?

Yes, meaningfully so. The new version comes from an entirely new laser scan, so surface details, kerb heights and camber changes are all different from the old model, particularly through the Corkscrew and the infield section. Even if you know the old version well, expect a few sessions to recalibrate.

Can I race the Qualcomm Circuit before its real-world NASCAR debut?

Yes. The track lands in iRacing ahead of its real-world debut later in June 2026. Sim racers get first access to the layout before the Cup Series arrives.

What's the best new car for road racing beginners in Season 3?

The BMW M2 Racing (G87), without question. It's free, it's forgiving enough to learn on, and it'll teach you the fundamentals that translate to every faster car on the platform. Check out iRacing's Safety Rating and iRating explained if you're still building your licence and want to understand how the progression system works.
