Rocket League Updates After EAC: BakkesMod, Ballchasing, and What's Actually Different Now

EAC went live on April 28th, 2026, and is now required for all online play on PC. Its goal is straightforward: stop bots and cheating in ranked. If the system catches a cheater mid-match, the game is instantly cancelled and your MMR is completely safe. That alone is a big deal for anyone who's had a ranked game hijacked by someone running scripts. But here's the catch: EAC didn't just hit cheaters. It broke almost every mod overnight including BakkesMod, which initially announced it was shutting down for good. So the rollout hasn't been without controversy. The good news: BakkesMod has since come back with an update, and Psyonix has offered their support to keep the project going. Now a lot of players are still asking the same questions: What actually changed? How does BakkesMod work now? Will ranked feel different? And does any of this fix the ball chasers in my lobbies? Here's what every player needs to know.

TL;DR

Rocket League's Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) went live April 28th, cancelling matches mid-game if a cheater is detected and keeping your MMR safe.

Update: BakkesMod is back. After a brief shutdown scare, the team updated BakkesMod to work with the latest version of Rocket League (in non-EAC mode only) with support from Psyonix.

Ballchasing still works but requires manual replay uploads now.

For trophi.ai users, nothing changes. Replay analysis, AI coaching, and performance tracking are all EAC-compliant and fully operational.

The video below explains all the updates in about 60 seconds.

Update: Since this video was filmed, BakkesMod announced that they are back. Read the blog for the full details.

BakkesMod Is Shutting Down For Good.

After previously announcing it was sunsetting, BakkesMod has made a comeback.

BakkesMod currently works in non-EAC mode only. That means it won't inject into the EAC version of the game, so you won't get banned but online modes running under EAC won't have BakkesMod active.

It works in free play, custom training, LAN matches, and replay viewing.

If you're experiencing crashes, the BakkesMod team notes it's likely a plugin that's incompatible with the new version of Rocket League, not BakkesMod itself.

What Psyonix Added Alongside EAC

Psyonix didn't launch EAC without a plan. Several features that players have relied on BakkesMod for are now built natively into the game:

  • MMR Display: You can now see your actual MMR in competitive playlists without a third-party tool. This is one of the most requested features the game has ever had, and it's finally official.
  • Custom Training Randomization: The ability to randomize custom training packs is now native.
  • Default Team colors in Free Play
  • Fine tuning settings for The Flip Rest Indicator.

Steam Workshop maps are still available with or without EAC enabled.

What About Ballchasing?

Ballchasing is still around but automatic replay uploads are gone. You'll need to upload replays manually for now. It's an extra step, but the platform isn't going anywhere, and your replay data is still fully accessible once you get it in there.

For tournament organizers and creators who’ve built broadcasts using overlay plugins like SimpleAOB’s, a new StatsAPI feature is included in this update that lets you pull data directly from the game to customize your broadcasts. A new setting in the options menu also lets you toggle the visibility of the in-game HUD so you can overlay your own assets.

What About trophi.ai?

The trophi.ai team prepared ahead of time to stay fully compliant with EAC. Overlays are gone as a direct result of the anti-cheat restrictions but Replay Analysis, AI Coaching, and Performance Tracking are completely unaffected and work exactly as before.

On top of that, you still get Live Game Insights after every match, so you have everything you need to keep improving. Nothing changes in terms of how you review and develop your game with trophi.ai.

If you're not already using replay analysis to break down your games, now's a good time to start. With lobbies playing more consistently, the patterns in your own mistakes become a lot easier to spot. Start coaching your Rocket League game with trophi.ai.
