RaceControl Lite

RaceControl Lite is the base level of RaceControl subscription. This is where most players’ Le Mans Ultimate experience will begin, allowing access to daily and weekly events as well as specially curated special events.

Essentially, RaceControl Lite provides players with enough features to get into LMU’s online racing scene, however, you won’t be able to run custom liveries or access more advanced team management features.

For most players, RaceControl Lite has a good mix of LMGT3, LMP2 and Hypercar events, with well-populated servers.

RaceControl Pro 

Costing $48 per year, RaceControl Pro includes everything from a Lite subscription but supplements it with the ability to race in specially organised online championships.

These typically run for six weeks, with each round’s points haul counting toward an overall championship position. Players can also have multiple attempts at a championship race, but not every championship allows this.

Skill-based matchmaking ensures grids and scoring remain as fair as possible, with championship points awarded based on the size and relative strength of the field.

The schedule for LMU’s online championship races normally refreshes on Tuesdays at 12 PM UTC, with players generally locked into using the same car throughout - switching cars will result in the forfeiture of all your currently earned points. There are usually up to four online championships to compete in during any given season.

A RaceControl Pro subscription also allows players to protest incidents from these races, in theory maintaining better driving standards compared to base-tier races (note that you will need at least a B2 safety rating to compete in one of LMU’s online championships).

LMU’s online championships are thought to be a precursor to the resumption of the Le Mans Virtual Series esports competition, with qualifiers expected to take place via the RaceControl Pro ecosystem. More esports-focused competitions can be expected in future, too.

In terms of team management, RaceControl Pro subscribers can also create a premium team, featuring up to 100 drivers split across 10 lineups. You and your drivers will also be able to run custom liveries across all of LMU’s online races and practice sessions.

RaceControl Pro+

A RaceControl Pro+ subscription includes everything from RaceControl Pro’s offering, plus all of LMU and rFactor 2’s DLC (rFactor 2 being Studio 397’s predecessor to LMU). However, at $84 per year, RaceControl Pro+ is nearly double the price of RaceControl Pro.
Despite the additional cost, this can be viewed as a good deal given the sheer volume of DLC available across both rFactor 2 and LMU.

For example, in rFactor 2, players can expect to drive on officially licensed tracks like Thruxton, Daytona International Speedway and the Nordschleife, among many others, with series like Formula E, BTCC and IndyCar also represented. 

Additionally, as-yet-unreleased DLC for LMU, such as the in-progress European Le Mans Series packs, will automatically be added to your game as soon as they are released - likewise with any DLC that has yet to be confirmed.

One important thing to note is that once your RaceControl Pro+ subscription runs out, you will no longer be able to access any of the included DLC in LMU or rF 2.
